Shadow Warrior 2 Launches First On PC In September

Flying Wild Hog has confirmed that the sequel to the reboot of Shadow Warrior will launch first on PC, followed closely by a launch on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

According to TechRaptor, Nigel Lowrie from indie publisher Devolver Digital explained to Gamereactor that they would launching the game in September, saying…

“It’s coming out next month, we haven’t set the date yet, but we are… it’s gonna come out next month. PC first. PC is the first platform, then it’s coming out to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after that.”

The game sees players back in the role of Lo Wang, helping a disembodied young woman get revenge against her father. Shadow Warrior 2 sports a lot of new weapons, maps, enemies and co-op to help keep gamers coming back for more.

The gameplay looks solid enough based on what I’ve seen, but it’s nothing so spectacular that it would revolutionize the FPS industry. Totalbiscuit did a stream of Shadow Warrior 2 a couple of weeks ago, featuring 45 minutes worth of gameplay that you can check out below.

The new upgrade system, the relics and the map layouts seem like they could give this new Shadow Warrior a lot of leg strength to stand on. I’m especially impressed with the ability to move around the levels and and find alternate paths toward a destination. The Borderlands-esque loot and shoot design fits the game well enough, and all the upgrades look like they could be a blast to use.

You can expect to see more of the game at PAX West along with the launch on PC. Devolver will iron out a date thereafter and plop the game on the PS4 and Xbox One sometime this year as well. You can learn more about the game by visiting the official website.
