Siralim 2 Goes Old-School With Monster Capturing, Summoning

Thylacine Studios recently released Siralim 2 out onto Steam for PC. The game sees players in the role of an adventurer who goes out to catch and summon monsters, battle through dungeons and craft powerful artifacts. It’s like Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner knocking boots with Pokemon and dipped in the DNA of an 8-bit RPG.

The game allows you to upgrade your castle, level-up your monsters and acquire new spells. There are over 500 different creatures to defeat, capture and collect, along with the option of crossbreeding them to make new monsters.

The game relies on randomized dungeons to help keep the replayability fresh, and there’s even customizable equipment and creatures that can be upgraded through a varied crafting system. You can see what Siralim 2 looks like in action courtesy of the launch trailer below.

Combat takes place in first-person. It’s all very similar to old-school RPG Maker titles where enemies appear on screen and your party members are relegated to icon slots at the bottom of the GUI. You can have up to six different monsters duking it out for you in a fight.

Despite having old 8-bit style graphics, the actual gameplay looks fairly solid as if it’s a proper homage to old NES games. The music is especially surprising, housing the kind of quality that one might expect from classic Square games before they merged with Sunsoft or Enix.

The reviews for Siralim 2 are very positive, with well over 150 reviews with people praising the game for its addictive nature and the whole quest to collect all the monsters.

Typically there are a few people who are very peeved off with No Man’s Sky who are taking the piss out of the game and praising Siralim 2 for working where-as Hello Games’ title does not work.

Siralim 2 is available for $14.99 right now over on the Steam store, but you can get it for 10% off the normal purchasing price for the first week of it being on sale. You can also learn more about the game by hitting up the official website.
