The Final Station Mixes Zombie Survival With Train Management

Looks like the developers of The Final Station might just be fans of the anime Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, as both titles take a similar concept and mixes in Zombie survival with managing a train and its passengers.

The Final Station was developed by the indie team at Do My Best and published by Tiny Build. While I see similarities with the above mentioned anime and the game The Final Station because of the train and zombie elements, that is pretty much where the similarities between the two end. Instead of a fantasy setting with swords, The Final Station has a more modern day setting with its technology and weapons, giving you pistols and shotguns while taking place in a post-apocalyptic zombie filled world of death and decay.

The Final Station is a 2D side scrolling retro-pixel art game, that features a passenger management system to keep your fellow survivors happy, and more importantly, alive. You will also have to work on your train so that it stays fully operational. Take a look at the official PS4 teaser trailer that I linked down below.

It appears You play as the metro-train police, traveling the world on your train, then getting off and scavenging for supplies and looking for survivors. The Final Station will have five chapters for you to play through, 30 train stations and railway levels for you to explore.

The difficulty level sounds like it will be quite challenging, as the developers say that ammo and supplies will be limited, so shooting your way through hoards of zombies may not always work in your favor. The passengers you pick up will come with their own set of special abilities that will grant you different perks for helping them and rescuing them, however, they also come with a certain hindrance that could make them more trouble then they are worth. Gamespot’s Youtube Channel uploaded a five minute gameplay video showing how the game actually works in action, take a look at the linked video down below.

The Final Station released for the Steam Store, Xbox One and PS4 on August 30th, 2016, and so far has received positive reviews for its gameplay and concept.
