Tin Man Games’ The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is prepping for release on August 31st for PC and Mac. The game will be made available on Steam at the end of the month, featuring 3D dungeon crawling using tabletop pieces.
Unlock other dungeon-crawling RPGs out there, you will actually play The Warlock of Firetop Mountain as if you were playing with a dungeon master at a local get together, complete with little figurine pieces for the main character, the monsters and even a board-style 3D design for the map.
You can see a teaser trailer for the game below featuring a look at how the gameplay works and what some of the real-time GridBluff combat is like.
The game is based on the 1982 Fighting Fantasy paperback from Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson. The game has been designed to bring the old tabletop adventures to life for today’s generation of gaming using a 3D game board and featuring over 100 different hero and monster figurines.
Now one of the things that actually makes The Warlock of Firetop Mountain different from so many other RPGs out there is that the journey will be different for each hero you take into Zagor’s lair. The story will craft, mold and shape itself around the decisions hewn throughout your adventure. This promises to create a unique gameplay experience for each and every run.
This is likely going to be a sleek way to introduce new gamers into the inner workings of tabletop RPGs, which have kind of retreated into hobbyist sections of the gaming market.
The independently made The Warlock of Firetop Mountain looks good and could prove to be promising if it works right out of the gate. You can keep track of news about the game or keep an eye on when it plans on going live by visiting the Steam store page.
If you don’t have a very decent PC to play the game on, there will also be a version made for mobile phones later in the year. For further info you can visit the official website.
