Hyper Light Drifter Update Brings 60FPS And Adds New Modes

Heart Machine took some time to add some tender, love and care to their hit indie project Hyper Light Drifter, and added some new content to the base game. This content spans from frame rate upgrades to new modes for those who completed the game and more. Hyper Light Drifter is out now for PS4, PC and Xbox One.

To be honest, Hyper Light Drifter is a cool indie project. I do wish more indie games took careful time as Heart Machine did with their project, although it did come in at the cost of the game being delayed. But, I’d rather have a game delayed to be polished on release than a broken game to hit the scene with countless post patches steam-rolling in.

Speaking of patches or updates, Heart Machine released a new update that brings the option to switch between 60fps or 30fps (in case your system has problems with the former), and two new modes for beginners and hardcore fans to enjoy.

The first of the two modes is Boss Rush. As the name suggests, players will face off in an onslaught of bosses. This mode only becomes present after the game is complete, meaning that folks who previously beat the game in the standard mode should see the new mode.

Looking out for the little gamer, a “Newcomer” mode is now present for those who seek to enjoy the game at a leisure pace, but without some of the challenging aspects that year one players encountered. I should note that the Newcomer mode disables some achievements, which means players will have to beat the game later on a harder setting to unlock everything.

The last feature added to the game is local co-op multiplayer. Sent out in a previous beta patch, folks looking to double team a boss or use an extra hand during a hard part in the game can now do so with a friend.

Hyper Light Drifter is currently on sale for $13.39 thanks to its most recent 33% off sale, which ends in the next two days. You can get Hyper Light Drifter now over on Steam.
