Star Wars: Battlefront Death Star Trailer Features R2D2, Bossk, Chewbacca

Electronic Arts and DICE released the newest trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront, revealing that the game’s upcoming Death Star DLC is prepping to go live on September 20th next week for season pass holders. The trailer focuses on the Trench Run from Star Wars: Episode IV, as well as a less than impressive looking Chewbacca.

The trailer not only shows Chewbacca but it also gives us a quick look at Bossk as well, one of the bounty hunters who were tasked when bringing in Han Solo.

One of the more surprising elements of the trailer is the inclusion of R2D2, who appears to be an NPC of sorts who rolls around, throwing down smoke bombs and electrocuting unsuspecting Stormtroopers. You can grab a gander at the trailer below. Oh yeah, and Chewbacca looks like a giant wet Gremlin.

Certain parts of this game still astound me with how visually impressive the Frostbite can render some assets. The lighting, the LOD close-ups and the animations are all impeccable. The physics never fail to look amazing.

Outside of the sound and graphics, though, the gameplay is still the same as usual. If you didn’t particularly like the game when it came out last year nothing has really changed other than new stages, characters and some weapons.

The Death Star map pack features five new maps, including an on-the-ground map inside the Death Star similar to Pandemic’s Star Wars: Battlefront 2. One of the other maps includes a battle amongst the Star Destroyers and another map includes the actual Trench Run, where players will be able to play as both Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

After the DLC pack for the Death Star launches on September 20th for season pass holders, it’ll become available a couple of weeks later as paid content for those who own Star Wars: Battlefront.
