After the Cemu team released version 1.6.3 to their Patreon backers a short while ago, they kept their heads down and kept on working on the emulator around the clock for a strong public showing of version 1.6.3, which has recently become available for download… for free.

The emulation community has been showering nothing but praises onto the Cemu team for the 1.6.3 release. The changelog was made available last week, but it didn’t contain much other than a few fixes and updates for some of the backend functions of the emulator, especially in regards to improving the way instruction sets are optimized and executed on the CPU front, resulting in better performance of certain games.

The general consensus is that Cemu 1.6.3 is probably the best release of the emulator in a long while. The GBA Temp audience held nothing back in letting the swell of appreciation for the world of interactive entertainment brought to life through Nintendo products and emulated through the Cemu team’s efforts flow out freely for all to see. This happened in the form of a series of videos highlighting the incomparably smooth performance offered by the latest rendition of the Cemu emulator.

Take note that not every game works well in Cemu. There’s an example with Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, where the vector rendering is absent, and instead there’s just a wired outline for the character meshes. Bayonetta is also just a blurry mess, with overexposed bloom and focus blur, turning it into a hazy and visually incomprehensible mess. There’s still a lot of work to be done regarding improving the compatibility for some games.
