A lot of developers have been spending the last week letting gamers know what’s scheduled to arrive soon in Early Access. A bunch of big games are scheduled to go live on Steam’s developmental platform in early 2017, one of which includes the highly anticipated, MMO, space-survival game, Hellion.
Zero Gravity announced that their sandbox survival title is scheduled to drop in January of 2017. They also go back over what the game is about and what the gameplay centers around, with Marko Smiljanic, the creative director at Zero Gravity, explaining that players will need to find a working spaceship and venture about the galaxy and learn to fight, cooperate and dominate with other players, saying in the press release…
“Hellion is a fusion of survival and space simulation genres that pits players against the deadly environment as well as one another. Set across a single solar system, they will need to survive extreme temperatures, deadly radiation and scavenge for basic resources like air, water, fuel and other items to survive”
Sounds cool, eh? Well, if you aren’t instantly convinced there are a few trailers available for Hellion, released regularly to keep people in the loop for what they’re doing with the game. You can check out the announcement trailer below.
Okay, well… that’s a cool trailer but that probably didn’t give you much of an idea of what to expect from the actual gameplay. Luckily for you, Zero Gravity has up a few other videos showcasing the game’s mining operations and the ability to build bases.
You can use mining tools like a battery-powered drill to mine resources and ore out of asteroids. It’s similar to Space Engineers in that.
It’s been mentioned before that the game seems to share similarities with Star Citizen. I would say that it seems a little bit like S.T.A.L.K.E.R in space. You will get to fly around, exploring planets, asteroids, facing off against other players and upgrading your equipment, so there’s definitely reasons to draw comparisons to Cloud Imperium Games’ work-in-progress space sim.
