Legrand Legacy, 2.5D Turn-Based RPG Prologue Demo Now Available

Semisoft’s Legrand Legacy has finally launched the long-awaited Kickstarter campaign. The game is currently seeking $105,000 to bring the 2.5D turn-based RPG based on Japanese classics from the PSX and PS2 era to life.

Legrand Legacy centers around a world that is on the brink of destruction due to an otherworldly invasion, forcing the young and reluctant hero named Finn to gather up his party and fight to save his dying world.

They released a brief teaser trailer to give gamers an idea of what they’re working toward completing and what they would like to bring to life through Kickstarter.

Legrand Legacy will make use of the turn-based system to give gamers optional attacks and magic abilities to dispense on enemies like classic titles such as Suikoden and Legend of Dragoon.

The characters and interactive objects are all designed in 3D but the backdrops are hand-painted in 2D. Classic PSX design.

You can recruit NPCs to help join in the fight and boost up the ranks at your headquarters, or journey off on various side-quests when you don’t feel like doing the main quest. Speaking of the main quest… the story will unfold with a visual novel-style presentation for the characters and interactions using live 2D CG drawings. They talk more about what they have planned in the pitch video below.

If there’s too much talk and not enough action for you, the developers figured that some gamers may not be entirely convinced about backing or checking out Legrand Legacy, so they released a free playable demo of the game that you can download right now.

In fact, the demo is nearly 1GB in size and offers a look at the game’s core combat, some of the story and the characters you’ll meet throughout the journey. You can download the free alpha demo right now from over on the Gamejolt download page.

You can also learn more or contribute to the cause by visiting the Kickstarter page. Legrand Legacy is tentatively scheduled to release in September of 2017.
