Two military shooters have been discounted over the weekend, as well as offered up for free for gamers. Both Squad and Rainbow Six: Siege can be acquired at discounted rates through the weekend.
Squad is the indie game currently in development by Offworld Industries. It’s an Early Access title and it focuses deeply on realism. It’s a little bit like Arma meets Rainbow Six. There’s a strong focus on teamwork, vehicular combat and large scale warfare. At the same time, there’s also intense firefights. The game currently has a mixed rating on Steam because it’s still in Early Access and so tweaks, changes and hotfixes are still regular orders of the day.
You can see what the game is like with the video below from Pixelated Apollo, showcasing both ground based combat and vehicular gameplay.
Surprisingly, the game is a lot more polished than I thought it would be, but it’s also still a long ways off from release. You can play the game for free this weekend up until Sunday at 10:00am PST. During this time the game is also discounted by 50% off for only $19.99. You can grab Squad or learn more about the game by visiting the Steam store page.
Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six: Siege is also up for grabs… free for the weekend through to Sunday at 1pm. The game will also be discounted by 50% off up until Monday at 10am PST.
Rainbow Six: Siege has received quite a bit of positive feedback from gamers for being a solid all around shooter. It’s also one of the rare multiplayer shooters that actually grew its player engagement instead of shrunk over time. It’s nothing quite like the original Rainbow Six games but the partial stage destruction and character classes have given it some extra life. You can grab the game right now from over on the Steam store.
