Renoir, Unreal Engine 4 Noir Side-Scroller Launches November 16th

Black Wing Foundation and 1C Company’s monochromatic noir side-scroller, Renoir, is set to launch on Steam starting November 16th.

The Unreal Engine 4-powered title recently received a new launch trailer ahead of the game’s launch next week for PC.

The trailer highlights the game’s story, which revolves around a recently deceased detective named James Renoir. He was one of the few good cops fighting against rampant corruption by the city’s underworld crime bosses – bosses being helped by the city’s corrupt officials.

Following his death, Renoir gains the unique ability and insight to control phantoms and he gains the ability to finally right the wrongs that he couldn’t correct while he was in the world of the living.

The trailer focuses on the actual gameplay after spending just a few seconds giving gamers a backrgound rundown on Renoir’s story premise.

The game has a cool mixture of lavishly metropolitan structures to explore basked in an art deco style to suit the retro-noir themes.

The trailer focuses on using specters to carry out tasks for you as well as some of the platforming antics you’ll need to overcome in order to complete various levels.

One of the things that really stands out is just how smooth the animations are in Renoir. James moves with the kind of husky fluidity of an older gentlemen – very cop-like. At the same time, the puzzles and challenges still offer gamers the kind of mechanical depth one would expect from a typical platformer without the risk of the art or animation diminishing the mechanics of the gameplay.

You can look to get your hands on Renoir – which is said to be inspired by 1940s film noir and tales of the hardboiled detective and femme fatales – starting November 16th on PC. For more info you can visit the Steam store page.
