Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Preps For Release With “Trust” Trailer

Disney released the latest trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The trailer features a straightforward shot toward the gist of the movie’s plot. We get a simple explanation that a group of rebels are on a suicide mission to steal the plans of the Death Star.

Usually I would be absolutely tired of seeing the same old, same old, over and over again. The Death Star and similar weapons have been a staple in the Star Wars cinematic universe throughout the original trilogy, and a phony version of the Death Star was used in JJ Abrams’ The Force Awakens. However, the original tale of how the plans were stolen for the Death Star was always a story that needed to be told on film after it was hinted at in the Jedi Knight games.

Unfortunately Disney’s retcon of Kyle Katarn and his theft of those plans has been replaced with Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and the final preview trailer for the movie gives you one last look at the film before its release on December 16th next month. Check it out below from the official Star Wars YouTube channel.

Clearly, my favorite parts are still anything containing Donnie Yen. Over 50 and the man still makes 20 year-old beat-box boys jealous with his moves.

Story wise, the movie looks good. It appears as if it tells a basic tale with a straightforward line – I’m not entirely sure what’s up with Erso’s dad, but part of that subplot was spoiled in a previous trailer. I really wish they would have kept all of that a secret. But if you don’t know what the subplot is involving her dad then I would suggest waiting the few weeks for the movie to hit theaters and avoid any discussion about it online.

You can look for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to drop at a local theater near you starting December 16th. If you would like more information on the film (which is oddly not yet rated), be sure to check out the official website.
