One of the latest strategy and simulation games to hit Steam Early Access comes in by developers Game-Labs. The name of the game is Ultimate General: Civil War, which sees players building up their faction during the Civil War (1861-1865) and leading their side to victory. Ultimate General: Civil War is slated to come out this month for PC.
If you are the type of gamer that enjoys top-down strategy games there’s no doubt that this game, Ultimate General: Civil War, will be something of interest to you. As for how good the gameplay and the features are in this game currently remain a mystery seeing that there aren’t any real gameplay videos showing its core mechanics.
But we do have the official description and trailer for you to look over, which share the basics of Ultimate General: Civil War.
“Ultimate General: Civil War is a tactical war-game. Experience the bloodiest period of U.S. history – the American Civil War of 1861-1865.”
The game will take players through a tactical series of authentic theaters of war during the period of 1861 through 1865, and will feature a full campaign that covers over 50 battles from massive to small conflicts through quick skirmish missions or historical battles.
As of now the game currently features the following battles in the campaign:
- Battle of Aquia Creek
- Battle of Philippi
- 1st Battle of Bull Run
- Battle of Shiloh
- Battle of Gaines’ Mill
- Battle of Malvern Hill
- 2nd Battle of Bull Run
- Battle of Antietam
- + 10 minor engagements/conflicts that change for each side.
I’m not sure how good the battles for Ultimate General: Civil War will be on release, and if the game will offer players a nice challenge instead of super AIs that cheat their way to victory. Trust me I’ve played some strategy games where the AI cheats instead of pushing the player’s skill to the limit with real tactics. Hopefully this game contains some good content when it releases for PC later this month.
