Wonder Woman has a lot riding on it. A lot of people are hoping it will be the DC Entertainment Universe’s first great movie. Their other outings have been nothing more than flashy sparks in a frying pan, and fans are hoping for a heck of a lot more than that for some of the most iconic heroes.
The new trailer for the upcoming Wonder Woman flick from director Patty Jenkins has given some fans cautious optimism for the movie, mostly in regards to the drop-dead gorgeous cinematography during the archipelago sequence, as well as some sleek visuals in a few of the scenes before Diana heads to the grungy World War I setting. You can check out the trailer below.
The director of photography really nailed it with that movie.
There’s a lot of action in the trailer, no doubt. Many of the clips are rearranged from the other action scenes in the first trailer, leading me to believe that there’s likely only going to be a few noteworthy action sequences, and the ones we’ve seen are likely going to be combined or sequenced together.
It’s hard to get an idea of what to think of the movie. Wonder Woman was kind of shoehorned into the messy and directionless Batman v Superman flick, and now we have her solo story coming up where a lot of people are wondering how this is all going to come together given that Justice League will be following close behind it.
It’s hard to get a decent grasp on the story and whether or not it’ll be character driven or plot driven, and we still haven’t seen much of the actual bad guy in this flick. Anyway, you can look for Wonder Woman to drop into theaters starting June 2nd next year in 2017. Let’s hope it doesn’t need a super extended, unrated director’s cut in order to be decent.
