Star Wars Battlefront 2 Mod Seeks To Revive Battlefront 3

Clips showing early builds of Star Wars Battlefront 3 still remain on the Internet and provide glimpses at what could have been in the Star Wars game franchise. Although the game never released, people still remember the game even to this day, which leads us to the latest second Open Beta mod for Star Wars Battlefront 2 that almost transforms it into Battlefront 3.

Catching wind from publication site GameRant we learn that modders Battlefront III Legacy Mod Team is cooking up a mod to transform the 2005 title into the game that would have been known as Star Wars: Battlefront 3.

If you are like me and despise the empty shell known as Star Wars Battlefront EA made by EA and DICE — and the only two things going for the game is its graphics and sound (which do not count as making a game long lasting or fun) — it’s likely that you are either done with it or you are looking for another alternative.

Luckily there is a mod hoping to revive Free Radical’s Star Wars Battlefront 3′s ambition and currently has an Open Beta 2 mod for folks to download and test in Star Wars Battlefront 2. The description for the mod sits below.

“Star Wars Battlefront III Legacy (or: Swbf3: Legacy) is a large-scale conversion mod created for Battlefront II using as many Assets from the cancelled game as possible; including both eras (Clone Wars and GCW), a brand-new HUD+Interface and a map: Bf3: Coruscant.”

Currently heroes that are playable in the Beta are Zam Wesell, Master Ferroda, Aayla Secura, Durge, Obiwan Kenobi, Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress, Anakin Skywalker, X2 and General Grievous. More information regarding the Beta mod can be found underneath.

This is the second available Beta of Battlefront III Legacy. You can now expand your battlefield onto the separatist planet of Cato Neimoidia. As well as one new map, you can now play as more classes, heroes etc…

If all of that sounds like stuff that’s too good to be true, there is a video by El Fabricio showing the mod in action — even ground to space battles.

Although we may never know how the actual SWBF3 would have been like on release and afterwards, you will be able to take a shot at messing around with some of its features and assets by getting the Open Beta mod over on moddb.com.
