Looking to bring back the 1990’s platforming era where a bandicoot, blue hedgehog and other iconic animals were known for dominating crazy stages that called for skill to beat, comes Team 17 and Playtonic Games’ Yooka-Laylee. Over 13 minutes of gameplay is up for you to watch showing a new stage called Capital Cashino.
The upcoming colorful platform game, better known as Yooka-Laylee, has a new video up that shows actual gameplay of one of its many stages that players will be able to run around in and discover. The video provides a nice idea as to whether this game is something worth tracking or passing.
The video covers a lot of jumping, flipping switches, and progression through the newly revealed stage (Capital Cashino) by using Yooka to jump around, while utilizing Laylee’s screech ability to operate buttons and switch to traverse across the gold filled level.
Enemies are more than present in the video and provide a look at how they can be taken out by using a spin attack, and a slam attack to stifle any incoming foes.
Anyways, if the game seems like something worth looking over IGN has a 13 minute playthrough that covers the new location Capital Cashino, and more.
From the looks of it, so far, the game seems to bring some form of intricate jumping puzzles and stuff. Nothing too fancy, but if you were running through a stage blindly at least some of the map design calls for you to pay attention to what you are doing to progress through — like the elevator segment with the three switches or the closing stone door.
The game is looking alright at the moment, however I could see the character SFX noise getting a bit annoying if you are jammed on a certain part of a stage and have to keep talking to an NPC over and over, but aside from that Yooka-Laylee has a lot of potential.
Playtonic Games latest title is set to hit PS4, Xbox One, PC and the Nintendo Switch on April 11th, 2017.
