Are you curious as to how Square Enix latest Dragon Quest game is coming along? Well, Square Enix released a new batch of screenshots showing both the PS4 and 3DS versions of the game. Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time is set to release in Japan sometime in 2017.
I bet you can’t tell the difference between the PS4 and 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI? No, I’m just joking, there’s an obvious difference. But speaking of the two versions, square Enix dropped a batch of new screenshots over on its official website on dq11.jp that details the forthcoming game.
We learn from the site — according to the Story and Character section for both platforms — that the protagonist, who grew up in the peaceful village of Ishi, took part in a coming of age ceremony as a village custom to acknowledge that he is 16 years old. As the “Hero” reincarnates every so often to save the world, he learns that he must take on a great burden and execute an important mission. To learn about the Hero the protagonist sets out on a journey away from his hometown to understand the Hero’s mission.
Going to Delcadar where everything will be revealed to him based on his mother’s words, the protagonist heads toward that location to talk with the king to inform him that he is the “Hero”.
Warning: I should note that the next part could be considered a spoiler, but I’m not too sure if the game will take a twist — but remember this is coming from the main site, so avoid it if you don’t want potential spoilers.
The king of Delcadar explains to the protagonist that the Hero is a demon child. From here the protagonist known as the “Hero” is surrounded by the King’s guards. The official site continues by saying:
“What is the meaning of all of this? The story of the legendary “Hero” starts off with a bang. What will be the fate of the protagonist?”
Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time is slated to hit PS4 and the 3DS in Japan sometime in 2017. It is also noted that DQ:XI will gain a Switch version, too.
