Revival Productions updated their playable teaser demo of Overload to version 2.0, ahead of the game’s full release scheduled to drop later this month.
Over on the official Steam page, you can download the free playable teaser right now.
The teaser has been updated with improved graphics, sound and gameplay features. The full game will feature a single-player story campaign with 15 different levels to traverse and battle through. The game is designed to rekindle the six-degrees of freedom movement present in the old Descent titles from back in the mid and late 1990s.
If you need a refresher course on what the game looks like in action, you can check out the trailer below.
The hook for the game is that you fly around in futuristic environments, blasting doors open, blowing up enemies, finding secrets and traversing some crazy 3D environments where mastering your orientation is as important as your aim.
It brings back memories of old games like Forsaken.
The general feedback from gamers who have been following development and playing the various early builds of the game have nothing but praise for it. There’s a heck of a lot of cheers, smiles, and a general aura of positivity from the gaming community who really enjoy Descent and see it being faithfully recreated in Overload.
It’s also sad that people are excited for a game that revives gameplay from a 20 year old title, showing just how much of a dearth of creativity and ingenuity there is in the mainstream AAA space.
Following the full release of Overload they plan on rolling out a multiplayer mode as well. The game also supports VR, but oh boy does it seem like this could be one of those games that really gives you motion sickness. You can grab the demo right now from over on the Steam page.
