Square Enix has once again updated Dragon Quest XI’s main site to reflect some of the features that will be in the PS4 and 3DS RPG. The update for Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time includes screenshots and battle system information. The game itself is set to come out in Japan in 2017.
The latest information regarding Square Enix latest Dragon Quest game, In Search of Departed Time, has new information detailing the battle system and the platform variants. We also see new characters like Martina and Row, and we also learn about movement and much more.
Seeing that the game has two versions that are currently in the works, with the third Nintendo Switch version still under wraps, the site details the handheld version first. In the 3DS edition of DQXI, you can fight in two styles of battle: 3D Mode or 2D Mode.
In addition to the above, the names of the battles define the modes quite well, the 3D Mode depicts battles in a full moving field, while the 2D Mode sees everything in a classic pixel battle style.
Battles are like typical old-school RPG battles where upon coming in contact with a monster roaming on the field/dungeon, a battle will commence. Moves or features like “Attack” and “Spell” can be used to eliminate enemies. Defeating monster will grant experience points and loot, which is a no-brainer.
Just like the 3DS version, the PS4 version will also sport two types of battle mechanics. Free Movement Battle and Auto Camera Battle. The former allows players to freely move around and use a character’s viewpoint to execute moves, while the latter sees battles in full presence.
If you want, you can check out all of the images or screenshots showing the battle system in action, and the two new characters who go by the names of Martina and Row.
The images and information comes from the game’s main site, which if you want more information regarding DQXI you can hit up dq11.jp. Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time is set to hit PS4 and the 3DS in Japan sometime this year, while a Nintendo Switch version is also in the works with an unannounced release date.
