Indie developers Poor Locke has submitted their game new game, Unbeliever, to Steam Greenlight, and so far it has received positive feedback.

Unbeliever is a 2D sidescrolling platformer with retro 16-bit graphics that looks like it came straight out of 1995. The story follows a mysterious hooded man that has lost his memories after the old gods have been slain by the Unbeliever. After you have lost everything, your mission is to locate and find the Unbeliever and bring him to justice so that you can get all of your old memories back.

As you progress through the game you will slowly unlock your memories which will also reveal the story and past events. With every memory you unlock, you will also unlock a few new skills and abilities, while other memories give you information about enemies and their stories.

Furthermore, Unbeliever offers seven different stats for you to invest points into to craft your own character builds, as well as the ability to slide and dodge enemy attacks to create more tactical gameplay when you battle enemies. The developers released a gameplay trailer for Unbeliever to showcase skills, monsters, and environments to give you an idea of what to expect from the game. Take a look at the trailer below.

Unbeliever is currently on Steam Greenlight looking for votes to make it onto the Steam Store. The developers are aiming for a second quarter 2017 release date.

I downloaded and played the demo and I thought the story and the concept for Unbeliever was really cool, but the controls felt a bit stiff which made the combat and overall gameplay tedious in my personal opinion, so I am hoping they even out the kinks and glitches before its official release.
