Bandai Namco has finally revealed the latest news and information pertaining to its upcoming action RPG named Code Vein. Showcased as an animated teaser trailer revealing a dark world not too long ago, the new images reveal what Code Vein will look like, while publication site Famitsu explains what gamers will be doing in the new game.
If you want to see the new screenshots that Famitsu posted up of Bandai Namco’s Code Vein — which runs on the Unreal Engine 4 and is led by the producer, director and team leader from the God Eater franchise — they sit below for you to look over.
Code Vein’s basic premise and world setting lies below.
“In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world, as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity.”
The game will sport a “buddy” or team system that allows players to travel dungeons with a partner. Progress during the game’s story will allow for an increased amount of buddies.
According to Famitsu we learn that Revenant’s blood runs low, and they are unable to maintain their human form and transform into a thing called a “lost”. These things travel around the world in search of new blood and can never escape this state of suffering.
The site also covers the device around the Revenants mouth that is called “Blood Veils”. The device that is used to suck a host’s blood is concealed by a transforming mechanism that resembles clothing or a mask.
Code Vein will sport a lot of different places like an ice fortress, the city shown throughout the screenshots above, and common caves features in RPGs. I’m sure more locations will be present at release, but we will have to wait for the devs to announce more locations and other features in the near future.
The game is set to release sometime in 2018. For more info on this project you can hit up code-vein.com or famitsu.com.
