Patreon backers of the Cemu team have received version 1.7.5 of the Cemu Wii U emulator. The newest version of the emulator has arrived and brought a number of fixes with it, including improved FPS performance for the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and lots of CPU and GPU improvements for various games running on the Cemu, such as Fatal Frame 5.
YouTuber Yam Gaming uploaded a video of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running at 4K. You can check it out below.
The FPS bug has been squashed, there’s now better overall performance, and the Rucco Maag Shrine causing the game to crash has been addressed.
The game is now running on average between 25fps and 30fps, according to feedback on those playing the game on the latest version of Cemu.
Yam is also using the 4K graphics modification pack, which you can download from Adfly.
Other fixes have also made its way into the latest version of Cemu, including a fix for Yoshi’s Wooly World, where World 1 – 2 would crash. As you can see in the video below from Bahax PC Gaming, the game no longer crashes in that area.
Yoshi’s Wooly World runs about pitch perfect on Cemu 1.7.5. The frame-rate and audio processing emulation sound about par the course with the Wii U version of the title.
Additionally, it was noted that Fatal Frame 5 had been fixed and compatibility has been brought up to the point where the game no longer crashes at all, something that had been happening frequently in previous builds.
YouTuber Butz Klauser has a six minute vignette featuring segments from Fatal Frame 5 to show that the game runs just about as well as you could ask. Check it out below.
One Patreon member posted up the official changelog from Exzap for the Patreon build of Cemu 1.7.5 over on the GBA Temp forums, where it details that they’ve made a number of changes and fixes to the GX2 pipeline, fixing a number of rendering bugs and added a new experimental shader mode for game profiles.
Some general system improvements for stability have also been made – as evidenced with how well the games above have been performing – and they’ve also worked on optimizing the CPU interpreter and the accuracy of floating point operations to help with overall compatibility of game emulation.
