Bandai Namco’s Get Even is nearing release, and I still can’t tell you thoroughly what the game is about or how it actually works. Anyway, they released a new trailer to help signify what the story and gameplay is like in one of the side stories.
The trailer is only a minute long but maybe it’ll help key you in on what makes it an enticing experience… assuming you think the concept is interesting.
So it appears you’ll be able to dive back in time? Perhaps recreate scenarios and discover what happened? Is it like The Matrix meets Inception?
A previous press release offered some cryptic information about “getting” the “clues” and saving the girl. It almost reminded me of the earlier Heroes promo ads where they would whisper “Save the cheerleader, save the world.” The whole thing was pretty cheesy, but it went viral.
In this case, I still can’t make heads or tails of what’s really going on here in Get Even. It’s been this way since the game was announced some years ago, where Farm 51 introduced gamers to this crazy concept when it first appeared on Steam Greenlight.
YouTuber Checkpoint TV has two minutes worth of gameplay that you can check out below, and it looks pretty good. The movement and gun handling reminds me of old N64 titles.
The snippets here remind me of Condemned: Criminal Origins fused with SAW.
What the whole experiment thing has to do with that girl being captured, I still can’t figure it out. But you can check out some of the action-oriented gameplay with the video below.
I have to be honest… after seeing the second video I’m even more confused than before.
Anyway, the concept seems like it could be interesting, but I just don’t know what’s going on. You can materialize things out of thin air; see people in places that aren’t even there; and apparently partake in some sort of time-manipulation experiment.
One thing is for sure, composer Olivier Deriviiere’s soundtrack for the game is off the hook. You can listen to a few of the tracks below to get a small sampling of what the musical palette sounds like on the palate of your auricular senses.
You can look for Get Even to launch on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One starting May 26th. You can learn more by visiting the official website.
