NetherRealm Studios released a new trailer for Injustice 2 featuring Brainiac. The galactic collector finally gets the spotlight when it comes to his moves, combos and special attacks.
Previously, NetherRealm’s trailer for Brainiac centered around the story involving the species-menace as he makes his way to Earth in order to finish his collection of Krypton by taking Supergirl and Superman.
The trailer doesn’t center around the story aspects of Brainiac, but instead centers on his prowess in combat. The match starts with a bang, as Brainiac is able to unseat Superman’s feet from the ground with a few mid-range blows using his powerful Japanese-made tentacles.
There are some other cool moves on display from the towering alien. He can call in a projectile strike from one of his drones as it whizzes by, and he can also focus on getting down and dirty with old-school fisticuffs without relying on his Urotsukidōji abilities.
We see Brainiac perform some punches, kicks and shoulder tackles, using a style of combat not dissimilar to Shao Khan.
Brainiac also has a number of anti-air attacks, and an absolutely devastating super move. I do wonder how well he’s going to fare in the tournament scene? He’s a pretty good all-around character as far as defensive capabilities are concerned. He’s slow off the draw and his lack of momentum makes him difficult to be an aggressor when it comes to combo pressure, but his skills are top notch nonetheless.
Originally I wasn’t too excited about Injustice 2, but the gear system seems like it could be a really fun thing to use, and there’s a ton of replayability there if it’s done correctly.
You can look for Injustice 2 to drop on the Xbox One and PS4 starting May 16th. Some fans are still a little disappointed that a few of the female characters have butter faces.
