May’s PS Plus Games Are Finally Decent, And Gamers Are Okay With The Selection

Sony finally stepped up the quality of their game offerings for PS Plus subscribers. Previously they had a bad habit of rolling out just the bare minimum of free games for those paying monthly for the PlayStation Plus service, but for May they at least managed to get gamers to feel as if the offerings were “okay”.

Over on the PlayStation Blog James Hallahan rolled out the list of six free games that PS3, PS Vita and PS4 owners will be able to get their hands on throughout May. Scope out the list below.

  • Tales from the Borderlands, PS4
  • Abzu, PS4
  • Blood Knights, PS3
  • Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants, PS3
  • Laser Disco Defenders, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Type:Rider, PS Vita (Cross Buy on PS4)

They have a minute long video featuring the games on display that you can grab for each of the three PlayStation platforms.

For the first time in a long time, the people who have been throwing money at the wall in hopes of getting something decent out of PS Plus finally got something halfway decent out of PS Plus. By no stretch of the imagination are the games listed some top-of-the-crop AAA, award-winning blockbusters, but they’re apparently good enough for the poor saps paying monthly just to play with other human beings online with a PlayStation console.

The like/dislike bar hasn’t been that positive in months.

The general consensus is that May, 2017’s outing of PS Plus games are actually “okay”. The comment section on both the PlayStation Blog and on the YouTube page are filled with people who are “okay” with the games. In case it hasn’t been said enough… PS Plus subscribers are “okay” with May’s line-up.

I don’t really know if this is how Sony wants to operate their business, though. I mean giving people a bunch of mediocre games so people can say “Meh, it’s decent.” Eventually people will just barely keep their PS Plus active to see if things get better, but this is definitely the sort of thing that would most certainly cause me to cancel in a heartbeat…. assuming I was stupid enough to pay to access a game’s multiplayer on a console. PCMR for the win. GOG 4 life.
