Enigami and Focus Home Interactive announced that the crowdfunded Shiness, featuring a cast of furries and humans, has officially launched for the Xbox One, PC and PS4. The game follows a young furry named Chado as he attempts to save his fractured world from the horrors of war and the rise of evil.
Players will attempt to journey across the world, recruiting members for the party, battling bosses, uncovering secrets, completing puzzles and attempting to restore peace between war-torn factions.
The game uses a hybrid action-combat system with leveling and magic attacks, giving gamers an adventure that’s quite unlike anything else on the market at the moment.
You can see how the story and gameplay mechanics come together with the launch trailer for Shiness below.
What’s so impressive is that the game uses a traditional fighting-game like setup so that players will have to learn how to string together combos, parry, block and alternate between using magic attacks against different enemies. It’s a little bit like a cross between Naruto Shippuden and Legend of Legaia, except there is no turn-based system and everything happens in real-time.
Throughout the journey, as you build your party and delve deeper into the story, you’ll be able to grow the abilities of the characters, increasing their telekinetic powers, their magic abilities, and even their physical combat prowess. You’ll able to upgrade the characters from completing side-quests, and exploring the world of Mahera.
Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom reminds me a lot of classic adventure games that we used to get on the PS2. It feels like the natural progression that should have happened during the PS3 era, but sadly didn’t.
On the upside you can experience this crowd-funded classic-in-the-making by picking up a copy right now for PC, PS4 or Xbox One. Sadly no Switch port has been announced. You can learn more about this grand adventure-RPG by visiting the official website.
