Halo has had its ups and downs throughout its 16 years of existence, the latter of which can be seen with the fifth game that came out in 2015. In an attempt to supposedly make the series great again the sixth game will not show up to E3 2017, but instead Microsoft and 343 Industries have something else special planned for fans.
During this year’s E3 fans and gamers alike will be treated to “a little something” when the game convention kicks off in Los Angeles next month and when 343 Industries takes the stage; but it has nothing to do with Halo 6. That’s right, the game will not appear at E3 2017.
This information comes from IGN, detailing what 343 Industries community manager Brian Jarrad or “sk7c343” had posted over on Reddit saying:
“I’ll slip into my Dreamcrusher persona for a minute in the name of realistic expectations: We’ve said this already but we’ll have a little something at E3 but it’s not related to the next major entry in the franchise”.
I should note, however, that this does not mean that the game is not being worked on, because it is surely past 12 months since the devs made it known that they have been working on Halo 6. This information was also elaborated on by IGN, in which the site notes that 343 Industries have been working on Halo 6 for over a year.
It is also noted that executive producer Kiki Wolfkill and franchise director Frank O’Connor recently announced that Halo 6 will focus more on Master Chief and not new playable characters. Earlier in the year at DICE, studio head Bonnie Ross confirmed that Halo 6 and future titles will sport split-screen multiplayer again.
Personally it doesn’t really matter if the game shows up to E3 or not if it is still currently in production, which means that it is still following the same formula of being pumped out every so often. What needs to change are a list of things so that the sixth game won’t end up like Halo 5... or worse.
Anyway, you can read the full rundown regarding 343 and Halo 6 by heading over to the original Reddit post by Jarrad.
