Castlevania Netflix Teaser Trailer Looks Decent

Netflix released a minute and a half long trailer for their Castlevania cartoon. It’s based on the old NES game and follows the story of a hero out to defeat Dracula. The show is scheduled to air on July 7th.

Federator Studios is producing the show in collaboration with Powerhouse Animation Studios. The companies have been tweeting out about the trailer for Castlevania.

Powerhouse has a decent history under their belt, having worked on multiple video games in the past in the animation departments, including Epic Mickey, DC Universe Online, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Darksiders II to name but a few.

You can check out the trailer below.

Half the trailer is just the dude putting in the Castlevania cartridge into the NES after blowing some of the green stuff out of it. After that he finally boots it up and heads to the menu where he selects to view the trailer.

We get a few scenes of a bunch of skeletons impaled on a death field, a look at Simon Belmont with his whip, a brief glimpse of what looks to be Alucard, a chick with magic powers, some guy getting dumped over a bridge, another dude holding his bloody face, and plenty of other action sequences.

The animations look slick, but we’ll have to wait to see if the story is as good as the trailer.

A lot of people are excited because Netflix has managed to go all in on some of their shows, such as the first two seasons of Daredevil; but then some of their other shows have been fairly lackluster.

Hopefully this will be one of the shows that gets it right instead of being a ham-fisted, half-hearted attempt to cash in on the gaming audience.
