Death Squared, 4-Player Co-op Puzzler Coming To Nintendo Switch In Q2 2017

Another multiplayer puzzler is due for release on the Nintendo Switch, this time from SMG Studio. The four-player action-thinker, Death Squared, is officially set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch at some point during the second quarter of 2017.

This likely means that we can see the 3D multiplayer puzzler making its way onto the eShop for the Switch at point before the summer is over with. Arriving on the Switch before or during E3 would also be a good way to build up some hype for the game.

Patrick Cook, the lead designer for Death Squared at SMG Studio, commented about bringing the game to Nintendo’s newest hybrid console, saying…

“Death Squared was created as a co-op experience for players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy,” […] “We believe it’s a perfect pairing for the Nintendo Switch and its distinct multiplayer capabilities. It’s our hope you’ll ‘share the joy’ of Death Squared with friends and loved ones when it releases for the system later this year.”

The news didn’t just make its way onto the wire with words and nothing to show for it. SMG also released a Switch-specific trailer, which you can check out below.

Death Squared originally came out back in the middle of March for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 version had a specially made online multiplayer mode designed through the Share Play function exclusive to the system.

Additionally, the other platforms still have four-player cooperative play via local multiplayer. The object of the game is to get a band of robots through a series of dangerous testing facility rooms. The main challenge is maneuvering the robots through each of the platforms without triggering any of the traps scattered about the room.

The added challenge to the game is that all four players must make it to the end of the level… alive. If anyone dies then it’s game over and you’ll have to restart the level.
