Four more games will be made available for free during the month of June for those who have Xbox Live Gold. The Games With Gold program for June, 2017 includes Speedrunners, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed III and the original Dragon Age: Origins.
Major Nelson rolled out the details in a quick near two minute trailer covering the four aforementioned titles along with a special look at some free DLC for Phantom Dust on the remastered version of the game for the Xbox One. Throughout June the DLC – which is regularly priced at $14.99 – will be free.
On the Xbox One side, things kick off with Speedrunners, a fun little multiplayer indie game designed for local and online competitive play. It’s a same-screen racing game with gimmicks and goofiness abound as players attempt to maintain first place and reach the finish line before their competitors.
During the middle of June you’ll be able to get your hands on the original Watch Dogs from 2014. The Ubisoft open-world hacktion game will be free for Xbox One owners. I’m surprised they didn’t try to skimp out on the deal and give gamers the Xbox 360 version to save some pennies. Good on Microsoft for taking the high road.
During the first half of June, Xbox 360 owners and Xbox One owners will be able to grab a free copy of Assassin’s Creed III. It’s quite the worthwhile game, and Lorne Balfe’s soundtrack will really stick with you long after the experience. It’s also the one Assassin’s Creed game that just keeps throwing more and more at you as you progress through the game. There’s tons to unlock and the combat system is actually one of the best out there due to the fluidity of the animations and the timing of the mechanics.
Last but not least is Dragon Age: Origins, which will be available from the middle of June to the end of June. This game came out back when BioWare knew how to make good games. This title has always been lauded by the gaming community as one of BioWare’s best, and it was well before they began their descent into the SJW hivemind.
