One of Sony’s premier exclusives that they don’t really seem to care about is the cooperative, story-driven platforming action game, Knack 2. The game Pretty much had no time at their E3 press conference, and for all intents and purposes they treat it like the the nick knack of a red-headed child.
Of course, even if Sony hasn’t invested any time into the promotion of Knack 2, creative director Mark Cerny is certainly interested in his pet project and that’s why he took to the PlayStation Blog to reveal that Knack 2 is coming out on September 5th, 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
He informs gamers that the platforming is returning, the puzzle solving will be grander, the combat will be more refined and there are even a few new mini-games and special modes to help diversify the playability of the game. You can get a small glimpse of Knack 2 in action with the E3 trailer below.
Cerny had mentioend that they actually took time to look over the constructive criticism and gameplay feedback so that they could further refine the gameplay experience and turn it into something that felt fun and enjoyable for the whole family to play.
The seamless cooperative mode is back again, as players will work together to take down foes and complete levels, and of course the ability to shrink and grow by collecting parts is back as well.
The growing and shrinking thing was basically just a novel mechanic in the first game, and something players oftentimes used to defeat enemies, but here in Knack 2 you’ll have to grow and shrink frequently to solve certain puzzles, complete certain platforming challenges, and access some hidden areas throughout the levels.
The transformation ability also carries over into his new combat roles, where he can create shields to block attacks, stretch out his arms for long-ranged attacks, or even use parts to create a boomerang for a projectile strike!
Knack 2 is currently on display at this year’s E3 in the Sony booth area. You can look for the family-friendly adventure game to launch on September 5th, 2017 exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro.
