Extinction, Fully Destructible Action Game To Release Q1 Of 2018

Iron Galaxy and Maximum Games recently announced a new action game that will supposedly feature full-on destructible environments. The fast-paced game entitled Extinction, where players fight gigantic ogres and their minions, is set to release sometime in Q1 of 2018 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Catching wind from publication site DSOG, the new game explores fighting massive ogres and minions across countryside locations, whilst defending cities and rescuing native villagers comes Extinction.

The 2018 action title sees players using “dynamic skill-based” combat to tactically disarm and dismember enemies before going in for the final blow. According to the publication site we learn that Iron Galaxy’s Game Director, Kraig Kujawa, noted that…

“Extinction is absolutely relentless. We’re really happy with the fast, fluid feel of the game and we’re looking forward to showing it behind closed doors at E3.”

In addition to the above, we also learn a bit about gameplay mechanics in that not every battle will be the same for players and how locations will play a factor in how a battle will manifest, which was explained by Maximum Games’ Executive Producer, Derek Neal:

“As the protagonist tasked with a huge undertaking – both in fighting enormous ogres and saving humans from disaster – each player’s experience will be varied, as the landscapes and battle situations are never identical.”

No real gameplay footage is up yet — unless you count the snippet at the end of the trailer — however a new CGI trailer was released as of recent showing off what the game aims to replicate. You can check out the new announcement trailer thanks to Extinction MG YouTube channel.

Extinction will feature a story campaign and joining that comes “numerous side missions”, which upon completion rewards players with upgrades that also help out during the campaign.

Furthermore, the combat in this upcoming game will sport horizontal and vertical style battles in that wall runs, vaults, dives and other acrobatic maneuvers to reach an enemy’s weak point will be a thing in Extinction.

Destructible environments will also be a thing, too, meaning that objects can be used after something is destroyed and will open up different “strategic advantages” when roaming about a decimated building, house or structure.

In addition to the above, the devs want to make full use of the destructible environments by letting players create custom battlegrounds with varied objectives. These maps can be shared online with other players to see who is best at slaying giants in custom stages.

I’m not sure how this game, Extinction, will turn out, however only time will tell when its release sometime in Q1 of 2018 rolls around. Lastly, more info can be found pertaining to this game by hitting up
