Hartacon Tactics Set To Hit Steam Early Access On June 30th

Hard up for a tactical, turn-based strategy RPG? Hartacon Tactics is said to bring turn-based action, magic and strategic fields to challenge even the best of players. Charlie Fleed’s Hartacon Tactics is set to release for PC via Steam Early Access on June 30th.

At heart, Hartacon Tactics is a turn-based tactical RPG, featuring challenging AI mechanics, hand-painted 2D art and “complex” gameplay. Looking deeper into the mechanics of Hartacon Tactics, characters sporting unique classes, wielding special weapons and honing power through magical skills can be hired to make your very own dream team.

The above is explained in a short package that is better known as the official description.

“Hartacon Tactics is a turn-based tactical RPG, featuring highly deterministic mechanics, beautiful hand-painted 2D art and deep gameplay.”

Hartacon Tactics outlines the differences in its weapons and spells featured in its wide arsenal to choose from, which adds another layer to the combat. Like most RTS or take-turn strategy games, Hartacon really promotes a player to learn the field and the weapons used by the team you hired to end any conflict through skill and knowledge.

In addition to the above, this stands to be quite interesting to me in that reading weapon info, positioning your team members and learning enemies will play a key role to victory, rather than using the “statistically” best weapon and gear to plow through anything.

Anyway, you can watch the original Greenlight trailer showing Hartacon Tactics in action. The video comes in courtesy of Charlie Fleed.

To be a product of Steam Greenlight, I do have to say that the game doesn’t look that bad to be made by a small team. Some of the character art may look a bit amateur-like at times, but overall I think that the small team did a decent job creating a grid-based take-turn strategy RPG.
