The medieval-fantasy hack-and-slash action game from developers Nordic Trolls called Karnage Chronicles was just recently updated to feature full-fledged Oculus Rift support. This means that you can take full advantage of the Facebook-funded VR headset and its Oculus Touch controllers.
The news comes courtesy of a recent update over on the Steam community page for Karnage Chronicles. The game is still in Early Access on Steam but the developers are regularly updating and adding new content to the game.
The update also highlights some new additions to the gameplay, such as the AI being able to parry more effectively and more often. This means players will have to stay on their guard and time their attacks a bit better to avoid being clobbered to death from a counter-attack.
New consumables were also added to the game, allowing players to regain health during the playthrough. The consumable items have been strategically placed throughout each of the levels – simply touching the food will consume it, unless you’re already at full health. This is only a temporary solution and the developers have plans on further expanding the consumables to work with a new inventory system.
Lots of other additional tweaks and changes have been added, including more information in the tutorial to help players get a better understanding of the controls, smoother transitions between using the portals, and a proper health bar.
The developers also further optimized the game both on the CPU and GPU side so it should perform better for both high-end and lower-end PCs. They also included some additional haptic feedback for the VR motion controllers in the starting area of the game.
If you have no idea what Karnage Chronicles is about and you just clicked on the link because you saw a big troll about to clobber a little ‘ole player, well there’s a video trailer below to give you an idea of what the gameplay is like.
