Original Xbox Backward Compatibility Support Won’t Be As Big As The Xbox 360

Anyone who enjoys their original Xbox and the games that launched for it might just be able to play some of their favorite titles — like the backward compatibly program for the Xbox 360 — across the Xbox family of consoles, which includes the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X.

According to publication site GameRant, folks looking to play some of their favorite titles found on the original Xbox on their Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X consoles will soon be able to, but not to the full extent like the Xbox 360 compatibly program.

The publication site notes that head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, explained there are two main reasons why the original Xbox compatibility program won’t support as many games as the current Xbox 360 program. The first reason is that there are rights issues that are said to be more complex than with Xbox 360 games. The second reason is that it is more “difficult” to do original Xbox emulation on the newer Xbox family of consoles, with the site bringing up Spencer saying that the way it is being accomplished now is through pure horsepower.

Moreover, the site noted that besides the upcoming program of bringing backward compatibility for original Xbox games to the newest Xbox consoles that Spencer has an interest in doing something similar on PC. At the moment, there are no details on what Spencer seeks to do for PC gamers given that he did not go into full detail on the matter, but it is likely that more info on this endeavor will manifest in the near future.

As of now, the publication site mentioned that there are only two games confirmed at the moment for the original Xbox backward compatibly program that stands to be Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge and Fuzion Frenzy. With that said, is there a specific title or bundle of games that you would like to see through this new program, or do you think that this whole program is a waste of time?
