A new gameplay trailer for Citadel: Forged With Fire has been published, featuring some dungeon crawling, some party raids, and some physics-based magic attacks.
The new two minute trailer was posted up over on the Xbox YouTube channel, it features some players invoking the ability to fly in the air, summon pets and ride on a variety of different animals, as well as melee and ranged combat against a variety of creatures, including dragons, demons and wraiths.
You can check out the trailer below, which is fairly impressive if I must say so myself.
We see some traveling taking place from castle keeps to the great wilderness. We see journeys going from the deep below all the way to the sky-kissed snow tops of forbidden mountains. We see giants, we see goblins, we see the undead and we see the supernatural. This has led a lot of gamers to comparing what was showcased in the trailer to Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls games… specifically The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
But the comparisons don’t end there. Blue Isle Studios and Virtual Basement’s first-person adventure RPG has also drawn plenty of comparisons to J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. The wands and magic – the flying sorcerers and wanton projectiles – have made people instantly stop, stare, and take notice that this isn’t just another by-the-books MMO.
However, the one thing that turned a lot of gamers off was the potentiality of it being another free-to-play grindfest. Gamers are in no rush to have to leap back into that sordid mess.
Grinding and microtransactions through cash shops have become all the rave these days, even in $60 games like Overwatch and the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
The game is scheduled to enter into Early Access on Steam starting July 27th. Xbox gamers will also be able to play it via the Game Preview program.
The MMO’s Steam page has already gone live, and the developers have stated that the game will be in Early Access anywhere between eight months up to a year. So don’t expect the finished version until sometime in late 2018. For further information feel free to visit the official website.
