Echo was once featured on the now dead Steam Greenlight and was voted through successfully in order to one day debut on Steam. As of now, the devs, Ultra-Ultra, have worked on the sci-fi action-adventure title so that it will now release across PC and PS4 on September 19th.
Echo was featured on this site multiple times during its early days. The game reminds me a lot of Katsuhiro Otomo’s underrated anime short Magnetic Rose, which is an interesting premise to take as a video game seeing how both revolve around discovering a living decadent ship. We can even see some similarities in the spaceship designs, too.
Anyway, a description explaining Echo and its story lies below for folks who are unaware of what the game is about.
“The experience starts as a character driven journey of discovery, but as it unfolds it evolves into something altogether more punishing. Gameplay revolves around Stealth and Action, as you face off against the strange workings of this place. You might be quick on your feet and quite able to defend yourself, but everything has consequences here. Whatever your strategy, one thing is certain: You must keep your wits about you if you are to survive the Palace.”
The new trailer discovers content in the previous trailers yet, at the same time, brings forth new scenes for folks to feast on. The latest trailer showing Echo that Ultra-Ultra posted clocks in at one minuet and 37 seconds in run time.
If the devs can fix up frame-rate issues and character animations I do believe that for a Steam Greenlight indie project Echo has a lot of potential.
It’ll be interesting to see what the devs have in store for gamers when its PC and PS4 release date of September 19th rolls around. Until then, you can hit up ultra-ultra.com for more information on the upcoming Sci-Fi action-adventure title.
