A Western MMO named Wild West Online that was almost confused with Red Dead Redemption 2 a few months back has finally received a new gameplay video. The Wild-West themed game is built from the ground up for PC, featuring exploration, resource gathering, PvP and PvE missions among other content.

Wild West Online is developed by 612 Games and is said to be driven by an open world where players can decide to be a hero or villain in an R-Rated adult’s playground:

“YOUR ACTIONS decide if you’ll be a hero, a villain or something else entirely in this R-Rated adult’s playground, where you choose if you want to follow the law of the land or throw the good book out the window. But dig deeper and you might start to suspect there’s more going on here than just lawmakers and lawbreakers – underneath the surface this west is even wilder than meets the eye.”

Something worth noting is that the game is using the same engine as the War Z or Infestation: Survivor Stories, which is stirring quite the fuss at the moment. Something that’s not helping either is that the devs closed the comment section and disabled the like/dislike meter on its newly posted YouTube video, prompting a lot of people to believe that the same devs from said game are working on Wild West Online. Additionally, Total Biscuit tweeted that folks should keep their jets cooled, creating a lot of speculation that the game could be something else at release.

As it stands now, there are no legitimate links (at this moment) showing that any of the War Z or Infestation: Survivor Stories‘ devs are working on the Wild West Online game.

Nevertheless, folks interested in the upcoming PC Western game will find features like resource gathering, banks/train heist, PvP and PvE missions, along with biomes that reflect Old Mexico, mountains, towns filled with a variety of shops and much more. It’ll be interesting to see how Wild West Online’s future will play out given that it will have RDR2 as direct competition per se, and how the whole speculation of War Z or Infestation: Survivor Stories’ devs secretly working on it will play out during its lifespan? Only time will tell whether or not the game is only using the engine to I:SS or not, and if it will be able to keep up when RDR2 releases next year.
