Xbox Games With Gold For August Includes Bayonetta, Slime Rancher

Some mediocre titles are set to become available for free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers during the month of August. This includes two games for the Xbox One and two games for the Xbox 360. The two Xbox 360 titles are also backwards compatible, so technically you’ll be getting your hands on four Xbox One games.

The news was let loose over on the Major Nelson website, where Larry Hryb briefly detailed the four new games through a quick video teaser prepping Xbox fans for the August roll out. You can check it out below.

The month kicks off with both Bayonetta on the Xbox 360 and Slime Rancher. The former came out eight years ago for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The game was later re-released for the Wii U as part of the build-up for the release of Bayonetta 2 on the console, and then just earlier this year Sega finally gave fans what they wanted by releasing the original Bayonetta on PC for the very first time.

You’ll only be able to get your hands on Bayonetta up until August 15th. After that Bayonetta will be replaced with Red Faction: Armageddon on August 16th. The game will only be available up until August 31st.

Xbox One owners alternatively will have Slime Rancher during the first half of August and Trials Fusion during the second half. The Xbox One games aren’t all that great – especially considering the fact that one of the games is an Early Access title – but at least the Xbox 360 games are fairly decent for those of you who missed out on either game last gen.

There’s nothing there that would make me subscribe to Xbox Live Gold, but it still beats whatever crap Sony has been lazily putting out these past few years. If you already have Xbox Live gold, you can look for the four free games to start rolling out at the beginning of August starting next week.
