After the reveal of the Xbox One X at E3 2017 and some of the titles that will be playable on said console, a lot of people are looking forward to Microsoft announcing the pre-order date for the forthcoming Xbox console, and according to Phil Spencer it seems that fans won’t be waiting “much longer” for info to pop up.
If you happen to be excited for the next installment in the upcoming Xbox family of consoles, which in this case happens to be the Xbox One X, there is some good news for you as well as a rumor to ponder over.
Firstly, said by Microsoft to be the most powerful Xbox console to ever exist, the Xbox One X will gain information not too long from now regarding a pre-order date. The above information comes in by Head of Xbox Phil Spencer, who answered Twitter user Mooy’s question about the Xbox One X and its pre-order date, as seen below.
Our plan is set for this. All approvals are done so now just landing the announce with all the info, won't be too much longer.

Secondly, the console will be featured at Gamescom 2017 and will gain additional info on its specs and games at said game convention. The news on this comes in by Major Nelson himself, who posted a list of all things Xbox One X at Gamescom 2017 on majornelson.com.
According to the July 13th press release, the company announced that attendees of the convention will be able to play up to 27 games from the Xbox family of devices as well as from Windows 10 PCs.
Gream Boyd (or AceyBongos) and Xbox Germany’s Maxi Graeff will host a live broadcast. The two will reveal more details on the Xbox One X, and games to come in the next 12 months. People attending are said to expect a few surprises and giveaways, too.
This is where the rumor steps in: although not officially confirmed by Microsoft and crew, it is highly expected that the company will announce the pre-order date at Gamescom 2017, but do take that with a grain of salt given that that is a rumor by fans, however it does fit into an announcement not being too far away.
Gamescom 2017 will kick-off in Cologne, Germany from August 22nd to August 26th. The first day will be for trade visitors and the media, while on August 23rd to August 26th, the convention’s entertainment area will be accessible to all. Additionally, The Xbox One X will be at Hall 8 of the Koelnmesse, North Entrance. Public attendees will be able to catch the upcoming console from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. CEST by visiting said venue.
Lastly, Microsoft will be hosting the Xbox FanFest at Gamescome 2017, the event is set to start on August 22nd.
