Battle Chef Brigade Will Bring Cooking And RPG Mechanics To Nintendo Switch

One of the new games set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch is a mixture of 2D side-scrolling and gastronomical mini-games. The name of the title is Battle Chef Brigade from Trinket Studios and Adult Swim Games.

The game was originally Kickstarted and managed to gain a ton of support thanks to its anime-inspired visual look and highly enticing characters. The hand-drawn RPG adventure title sees players picking from one of four playable chefs, including Mina, the minx-haired fighter with a penchant for daggers; Cezar, the cleaver-wielding Norseman; Thrash, the monster slayer; and Kirin, a precision-oriented elf with a penchant for the culinary arts.

The game is similar to the likes of Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit, but instead of staying stuck inside of the Colosseum doling out mad cooking skills in a music-rhythm mini-game, Battle Chef Brigade will see players actually having to venture out into the world to acquire all of the necessary ingredients in order to complete the dish. You can get a look at the game in action with the trailer below.

Now the cooking aspects of the game are handled with a match-3 style mechanic, so it mixes it up from the typical, 2D platforming and hack-and-slash action that takes place outside of the competition arena.

The exploration is also pretty cool because players will be tasked with hunting down specific ingredients, and so you’ll have to engage in a bit of a Monster Hunter style adventure in order to acquire what you need.

Additionally, each of the four playable characters have their own storylines and quests to unfold, giving you plenty of replayability along the way. If you happen to beat all four campaign modes, you can also take up the challenge mode and attempt to top the online leaderboards.

Battle Chef Brigade is due to launch on Nintendo Switch and on Steam this holiday season. You can learn more about the game by visiting the Steam store page.
