Team17 announced that Interplanetary: Enhanced Edition is now available on Steam for only $14.99. The game will be a free upgrade for anyone who already owns the original Interplanetary, but for everyone else you’ll have to pay to get the upgraded or enhanced edition.
The theme of the game centers around establishing your planet as a home base for interplanetary warfare. That’s right, you will use your actual planet to fire off massive artillery rounds in turn-based combat in order to destroy the opposition.
There’s a single-player mode, a challenge mode and an online PvP multiplayer mode. You can get an idea of how the game is played with the near-minute long trailer below.
You can actually use the gravitational orbit of the planets to slingshot your rounds to its intended target, as well as upgrade your artillery with a variety of modifications, including more damage, faster travel rates, or higher area of effect damage.
The added hotseat mode for local play, and the skirmish modes should also add a bit of longevity and replayability to the game for those of you interested in such features.
But specifically, some of you might be wondering what exactly is new in this “enhanced edition”. Well, the developers have upgraded both the visual effects and the sound effects, as well as added AI opponents to the online game, new balance features, new buildings, new weapons, new super-weapons and new upgrades, along with the new quick-targeting mode and enhanced multiplayer functionality.
The team is also still rolling out some hotfixes and updates for the game even after its launch in order to address a few nagging issues that lingered on into release. They’ll likely continue to update the game until it’s running about pitch perfect.
During the first week of being on sale you can actually get it for 30% off the normal price for only $10.49. So if you’re interested you can either learn more about the gameplay or pick up a digital copy from the Steam store.
