GameMill Entertainment announced that Rapala Fishing Pro Series is coming to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One starting October 24th this fall. The game sports a full-on career mode along with the coveted real-life equipment and locations that Rapala Fishing fans seem to adore.
As mentioned, there’s officially licensed Rapala equipment in the game, along with dozens of different types of “top” fish species to hunt and fish along the rivers of six different environments. You’ll need to utilize the in-game GPS to track down and find the best spots where the fish are located, and then start swinging your rod like a Chip ‘n Dales dancer.
As you capture fish and earn points, you can use your earnings to purchase new equipment and upgrade your stuff. You can buy new boats, new reels, new poles, new apparel for your fisherman, new lures and new lines.
This year’s Rapala Fishing Pro Series includes some new destinations sprawled across the great lakes of North America, along with new below-the-water and above-the-water camera angles.
Now if you’re not all that good at fishing games but you would like to try your hand at it, they’ve added a new Free Fishing mode so that you can try out different strategies before diving head-first into the career mode.

The open-world traveling and fishing mechanic seems like a nice touch, and it almost gives the game a somewhat casual appeal for people who don’t like being rushed or want a more relaxing sports game to play.
These kind of niche titles have been on the rise lately as they’ve been finding audiences outside of the mainstream. They don’t get much coverage but they’re still there.
As mentioned, you can grab Rapala Fishing Pro Series starting October 24th for the Xbox One and PS4.
