Andrew Gilmour from Steel Mantis posted up some new clips and gifs from the upcoming side-scrolling, ultra-violent action game, Valfaris, giving gamers a look at a few of the devastating weapons at the player’s disposal, including a flamethrower, a shield and a laser pistol.
The gif was originally posted up on Gilmour’s Twitter feed, which you can check out below.

It shows a brief clip of the main character running into a room, throwing caution to the wind and unleashing a devastating looking flamethrower on anything unlucky enough to get in its way.
Of course, the clip in the gif is so short it’s hard to get a proper reading on the game. Thankfully, there’s a much longer clip available that shows a lot more of the gameplay, which you can check out below.
After entering into the area, we see Therion throw down by burning the crap out of some glowing rolling enemies and then he uses a brief jetpack jump to get up onto the platform before switching to the laser pistol and zapping the crap out of the rolling enemies.
Another baddie with a rifle hops down to take advantage of the chaos, but he gets roasted and turned into a puddle of goo and gib.
The two main weapons on display in the video look very effective, and that’s a large part of the selling point for a hard-edged, gory side-scroller. The game reminds me a heck of a lot of the old Doom Troopers game on the Sega 32X from way back in the day.
If Steel Mantis can ensure that the gameplay is solid and properly ironed out to avoid the problems they ran into with the initial release of Slain!, then I think that they might have an easy sleeper-hit on their hands.
