Curious what types of weapons are in Bandai Namco’s Code Vein? A recent video explores weapons, weapon types, weapons upgrades and much more. Code Vein is currently in development for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Without wasting any time, there will be five melee weapon types in Code Vein:
- One handed swords
- Two handed swords
- Pole-arms
- Two handed hammers
- Rifles with bayonets
The following information that explains the weapon types above comes from a new video that IGN posted up. One handed swords are easy to use and bring speed with them, although damage is not at its highest. Two handed swords have long reach but are a bit slow. Pole-arms and Spears sport powerful sweeping attacks that have long reach on them, but they are not as fast as one handed swords. Two handed hammers are strong and slow, but pack blunt force trauma. Lastly, rifles with bayonets can perform close melee attacks and shoot from afar.
According to the video you can swap weapons any time to adjust to whatever situation is at hand. If you prefer a certain type of weapon it can be upgraded at a base by a weapon-smith, who can also be reached via checkpoints.
In addition to the above, there are things called Gifts that can compensate a weapon’s drawback(s), there are eight in total. These Gifts go hand-in-hand with upgrades and can alter the fact that big weapons attack slow and lighter weapons inflict less damage.
It should be mentioned that weapons, however, cannot degrade or break. This means you can hack and slash away at an enemy and you will never have to worry about a weapon breaking. Another thing worth pointing out is that companion weapons cannot be changed and will always be the same, which is something you should keep in mind.
Code Vein is set to release sometime in 2018 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Video footage showing and explaining the above sits right here for you to look over.
