Friday The 13th: The Game Virtual Cabin 2.0 Update Announced

Even though the Virtual Cabin 2.0 release is a ways off from rolling out to the general public, Gun Media teased the new mode with an announcement trailer, featuring a look at some of the new content gamers can expect from the Virtual Cabin 2.0 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The trailer is just a minute and a half long, but it does a fine job of showcasing the improvements on the Virtual Cabin mode, which allows players to look around the Crystal Lake cabin and examine some of the props and items from within the game.

While that may sound kind of boring, the highlight of the mode is that as you move around and examine the objects, small text screens pop up to give you a bit of the backstory on the prop’s history either in the development of the game or the role it played in the real-life making of the Friday the 13th films. You can check out the trailer below.

As you can see, it breaks down what some of the script writers wanted to use in the films, what made it into the films, what didn’t, and how some of the items, plot points, characters, and behaviors were translated from the silver screen to the game screen.

The trailer also teases something rather unique as well: Jason.

While the Virtual Cabin 2.0 may take place in first-person, we see that Jason appears to be roaming around just outside the cabin. I don’t know if this means that he may end up busting through the door and killing you at some point or if he just gets triggered any time you decide to go over to the outhouse. Either way, it’s a neat little feature to keep you on your toes while you’re playing a mode where you don’t want to stay kept on your toes.

There’s no release date for the Virtual Cabin 2.0, but as mentioned earlier in the article, you can’t expect to see the Virtual Carbin 2.0 until after Halloween. There’s still the Part IV Jason, the Jarvis House Map, new counselors, new kills and new clothing before the Virtual Cabin 2.0 is ready for release, and the devs are expecting that to be at some point after October 31st.

If you need a refresher on how far long they are in development and how far away single-player content is, feel free to check out the DLC roadmap over on the official Friday the 13th: The Game’s website.
