Gamers are still heavily modding GTA V even though the game is four years old. The latest conversion mod for the title takes gamers out into deep space. Yep, modders are attempting to encroach on No Man’s Sky’s territory and they’re making some good inroads toward usurping attention right out from under Hello Games’ doormat.
GTS Devs posted up the full Grand Theft Space mod over on the GTA5-Mods.com website.
You can download the mod right now, featuring an all new adventure that takes you from Los Santos into the outer reaches of space. There’s a really awesome cinematic trailer showcasing some of the planets you can visit and the space shuttle you can ride on to get to the three different moons and 11 different planets featured in the massive total conversion mod. You can check out the trailer below courtesy of New Home Cinema.
SollaHolla headed up development on the mod and did the scripting and design for Grand Theft Space. He describes it more as a platform than a mission-based mod itself. It’s a launch pad for other total conversion mods given that you can do your own stories, vehicles, missions and more using Grand Theft Space as its own development platform in some ways.
They’re hoping that other developers hop in and create their own custom expansion packs and DLC for this new GTA V mod. Unfortunately it does not play well with other mods such as VisualV, NaturalVision or NaturalVision Remastered.
You will need a bunch of different files and software utilities to get it working, including NoBoundaryLimits, .NET Framework 4.5.2, C++ Redist 2017, and the latest version of ScriptHookV and the ScriptHookVDotNet files.
It’s probably best not to have a bunch of other scripts or mods installed if you plan on using Grand Theft Space. Various people in the comment section have noted that they’ve had problems with crashing and freezing, so a clean install without any mods is probably the best way to go about it. You can also pick up the NASA space shuttle add-on as well if you need a vehicle to get around the planets thanks to SkylineGTRFreak.
Once again, if you want to get your hands on the mod you can do so by visiting the GTA5-Mods page and downloading the base script, and all of the other required files as well.
