10tons recently announced that Jydge for the Xbox One is currently available for pre-order and pre-download right now. The top-down shooter combines the twin-stick action of arcade games, but with an upgrade system similar to the original Syndicate. The real highlight is that the game seems to be a very strong head-nod to 2000 AD’s Judge Dredd.
The news about the pre-download was posted up over on Major Nelson’s blog. In the post it’s revealed that Jydge is set for release on October 5th, 2017, but that you could download the game early ahead of release so that when it does unlock in October, you don’t have to worry about expending bandwidth to load up the game.
Many of you are probably completely unfamiliar with Jydge since it was only recently announced by 10tons at the end of spring and beginning of summer. It completely fell well under the radar despite having a snappy and informative reveal trailer that you can check out below.
The goal of the game is pretty simple: build your own Jydge and attempt to get out of Edenbyrg alive.
Much like Judge Dredd, your goal is to customize and upgrade your gavel-gun and bring justice to the streets, with extreme prejudice.
Now typically most twin-stick shooters are just a lot of the standard fare stuff where you run around and shoot people until you get tired of shooting. However, in Jydge the game has a cool feature where you can utilize the high-powered weaponry to blow holes in walls to create new tactical opportunities for you to exploit, as well as subjugate baddies to bullet-free deaths by blasting them out of windows or off rooftops while watching them plummet to the ground below.
Jydge seems like one of those simple-minded shooters designed to give people a few moments of pure, unadulterated catharsis from blasting criminal scum into the nether regions Lady Justice’s bowel bowl.
While pre-downloading is currently available for Xbox One users, you can actually look for Jydge to launch on October 5th for Steam and PS4 as well.
