Kirby Battle Royale, 4-Player Beat-’em-Up Party Game Launches Jan 19th, 2018

Nintendo announced that a new Kirby game is due out for the Nintendo 3DS in early 2018 starting in January. The upcoming title is slightly different from what you may have been expecting because it’s a four-player, battle royale fighting game centered around isometric, beat-’em-up action on the 3DS.

We don’t get many games designed like this, but you can think of it as a three-quarters view Super Smash Bros that only stars Kirby. You’ll have different abilities, equipment and skills to utilize while facing off against other players or against the CPU in the single-player modes. You can check out the announcement trailer below.

I kind of wish we had more games like this on real game consoles. It’s a shame it’s been limited to just the Nintendo 3DS.

Anyway, each Kirby type has its own special abilities that will help aid you attempting to secure a victory against other players across a variety of game modes, including a battle arena mode where the last Kirby standing is the winner. There’s also an ore express mode where you have to knock ore off a train that passes by and horde as much of it as possible to win the round.

Each of the mini-game modes are separated across three main modes, along with a training mode.

Kirby Battle Royale Game Modes

You have the Battle Mode for local or offline play, and an Online Battle mode where you can face off against three other players, and then there’s the single-player, offline Story Mode, where you will fight through a series of events in order to win the tournament.

Kirby Battle Royale is scheduled to launch on January 19th, 2018 next year, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
