Okami is a game that released over a decade ago and was available through PS2, PS3 and Wii. Fast forward 11 years and we now see Capcom bringing an HD version of the much acclaimed action-adventure game to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on December 12th.
Thought by fans to be a testing ground to see whether or not a sequel should be made by Capcom and crew comes Okami HD. The 2006 game originally developed by Clover Studio, Ready at Dawn, HexaDrive — with the former taking most of the credit — and published by Capcom will be playable on the latest consoles and on PC come this year’s December.
The news pertaining to the above information was made possible through a tweet that PlayStation sent out.
Moreover, Okami HD will launch with both a digital and physical version, which should please fans who like hardcovers and physical copies. The game will launch for PS4 and Xbox One on December 21st in Japan, and for PC on December 13th. In Japan, however, only the PS4 version will be available physically.
Looking over to the Western version of Okami HD, a digital and physical version will be applicable to all three named platforms and will cost £15.99, $19.99, and €19.99 respectively across the West.
The news regarding this move by Capcom has sparked a lot of talk in that a sequel could be on the horizon. On that note, a lot of people want a Switch version of either a sequel of Okami or of the newly announced HD version.
While we wait for more information to drop, Capcom took to capcom-unity.com and released the following information and video trailer:
“Experience the art and joy of Okami HD with beautiful 4K graphics on Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, and supported PC hardware.
Rooted in Japanese folklore, Okami has you taking on the role of Amaterasu, the sun goddess, as she embodies the legendary white wolf Shiranui. Your wolf part can tackle, and use a number of different weapons—you’re a legendary wolf after all—while your goddess side brings to the table divine powers of the Celestial Brush, a powerful way to breathe new life to the world around you.”
